Tonight I made a naturally decaffeinated brew of PrestoGeorge’s Organic Apple Cinnamon Tea and added some fresh orange zest and sliced a few dried cranberries into the tea. I sweetened with a teaspoon of German rock sugar and whisked in some of the Savannah Bee Company’s orange blossom honey [my favorite honey for darker teas, as you’ll soon realize if you keep reading reviews]. The tea is a wonderful night time or winter tea, with definite notes of cinnamon in the aftertaste. The fruity overtones were more noticeable than with most flavored black teas, giving this blend a very complex, full taste. Definitely worth picking up if you find yourself in the old strip in Pittsburgh, PA. PrestoGeorge’s shop has tons of artisan coffee and tea blends, with roasting and fermenting racks visible in the back of the store. It’s a great stop for any tea/coffee lover. Overall, a great comfort tea, but not suitable for much blending aside from a few added spices (Next time I’m going to try a tiny dash of nutmeg to try to round out the cinnamon flavor).
Overall: 7.5/10
Flavor: 7/10 nice fruit tones come through the dominant black tea flavor nicely.
Richness: 8.5/10 A very rich tea that could easily be made as a dessert tea.
Price: $4.55 / 4oz
